CDC, FDA Issue Advice For Retailers, Foodservice Operators Following Multistate Outbreak Of Listeria Monocytogenes Involving Hard-Boiled Eggs

Due to concerns over a possible association with a Listeria monocytogenes outbreak that has been linked to several reported illnesses and one reported death, retailers and food service operators should not sell, serve, or use any hard-boiled eggs produced at the Almark Foods Gainesville, Georgia, facility, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration have advised, among other recommendations they have made for the industry and consumers.

The FDA has provided a full list of the recalled products.

As stated in the voluntary recall Almark Foods issued on Dec. 23,, the FDA notified Almark Foods that the company’s Hard-Boiled and Peeled eggs in pails manufactured at the Gainesville, Georgia, facility may be associated with this Listeria monocytogenes outbreak. The company is no longer producing products from this facility, the FDA stated.
