June is National Candy Month. Fittingly, career resources site Zippia, which is also known for compiling fun and interesting lists that rank all kinds of things, sought out this month to discover every state’s favorite candy brand.
Zippia used Google Trends to determine which states were the most avid fans of certain candies. The survey examined more than 20 different brands.
Here are some findings:
- Starbursts, Skittles and Hershey bars are most beloved, each of which was No. 1 in seven states.
- Chocolate is more popular than fruit flavors; 33 states prefer a chocolate candy to a fruity one.
- Most candies were someone’s favorite, but no state selected Mounds or Peanut M&M’S.
- Considering the finding above, Zippia survey officials concluded that some states have crummy taste. "Really, Louisiana, you’d rather have a PayDay than a Peanut M&M’S?” Zippia queried.
