Jersey City, N.J. has tabled a proposal restricting mobile food vendors after the vendors objected, according to the Jersey City Independent. The proposal requires a 60-minute limit on mobile food vendors staying in one location before having to move a quarter of a mile. It also requires the vendors to maintain a distance of 100 feet from each other and restricts food trucks from operating within 300 feet of a "brick and mortar" establishment.

Editor's Insight: Restaurants are doing everything they can to stifle competition from mobile food trucks. The best restaurants can hope to accomplish is to temporarily hold off the competition; courts are not going to deny a class of businesses the right to be in business.
