Massachusetts, New Jersey Consider Legislation To Help Customers Understand Food Freshness Labels

To combat food waste, legislators in Massachusetts and New Jersey are considering measures to help with the clarity of food freshness labels, on the heels of a California law under which food processors are requested to use the terms “best if used or frozen by” and “use or freeze by” to help consumers better understand whether they can still consume food items, according to Maryland Matters.
