Dine Brand's Restaurants Credit Off-Premise Sales For Revenue Jump In Third Quarter

Nov. 1, 2018

Dine Brands reported that off-premise business was a major factor in the increase in net income and revenues for the third quarter 2018, according to Nation's Restaurant News. Net income was $23.6 million, compared to a loss of $450.3 million for the same quarter in 2017. Revenue increased to $194 million, from $174.9 million, as well. For off-premise, Applebee's and IHOP both saw a sales increase of more than 30%.

While the majority of off-premise is to-go, where consumers pick up food, some is delivery and Dine Brands has announced a focus on delivery, anticipating adding this service to almost 1,000 restaurants by year's end with more in 2019.

Editor's Insight: A big delivery push by restaurants could threaten vending and micro market operators. Consumers want quality and convenience. The provider who can deliver on both will win the away-from-home dollar. Operators need to be ready.
