NAMA Files Comments With EPA In Response To Energy Star® Commercial Coffee Brewers Research Outreach
(CHICAGO) September 8, 2014 – NAMA’s Government Affairs department filed comments with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Friday in response to the agency’s request for feedback on its recently published ENERGY STAR® Commercial Coffee Brewers Draft Specification Framework Document.
The EPA reached out to beverage industry organizations and stakeholders for responses on the proposed framework and to help generate discussion about the agency’s approach to and understanding of the commercial coffee brewer as a product category.
In its comments, NAMA offered insight and clarification on various issues affecting the industry, including the types of brewers, brewing capacities, brewing volume, and the delineation between home and commercial brewers as well as additional commercial brewing products and energy efficiency.
“NAMA appreciates this opportunity to work with the broader coffee brewer manufacturing community and allied associations to provide input on the proposed ENERGY STAR specifications for commercial coffee brewers,” said Eric Dell, NAMA Vice President of Government Affairs.
“We applaud the EPA on this collaboration between industry and government and thank the International Bottled Water Association for their partnership in this effort as well. In terms of next steps, it is anticipated that the final version of the specifications will be issued in the Spring or Summer of 2015.”
