The 2012 National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) Foundation scholarship program is officially underway to award $2,500 scholarships for the 2012-2013 school year.

The 2012 National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) Foundation scholarship program is officially underway to award $2,500 scholarships for the 2012-2013 school year, NAMA Senior Director, OneShowSM and Education LyNae Schleyer, NCE, CMP announced today.

“Since NAMA began awarding scholarships we have helped more than 50 students fulfill their dreams of a college education, and we are very proud our Foundation can offer this gift of education to deserving students,” Schleyer said in a prepared statement.

The program is open to all undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens, a full-time employee (minimum 40 hours per week) or son/daughter/legal dependent of a NAMA member company and are sponsored by that company, said Schleyer. Also, the parent or legal guardian must continue to be employed by the sponsoring company throughout the entire scholarship duration.

Students can be graduating high school seniors or enrolled full-time in a college undergraduate program at an accredited college or university.  They also must maintain and verify a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent. Eligible applicants may continue to reapply each year but may only receive one scholarship award.

The drawing will take place on April 2, 2012, in the NAMA office and two alternates will also be selected.  Winners are selected through a random drawing of all eligible applications.

“We encourage all qualifying students to fill out an application and we look forward to presenting these scholarships to the winners in April,” concluded Schleyer.

Applicants may download a scholarship application online at www.vending.org and selecting the Education tab, or contact Joann DeNardis 312-346-0370x229 for more information. Deadline is March 1.
