State Sen. Jon Ford Removes Name From Vending Sales Tax Bill

Feb. 22, 2017

Indiana State Senator Jon Ford recently removed his name as a sponsor of a bill that would remove state sales tax from vending machine purchases, according to an article in The Tribune-Star. House Bill 1013 would phase out the sales tax on food items sold in vending machines starting January 1. Sen. Ford is vice president of development for a company that coordinates workplace food service. This led to concerns about a conflict of interest. While Sen. Ford did not consider it a conflict, he decided to withdraw his name and let others sponsor the bill.
