Illinois Library Repurposes Snack Vending Machine To Dispense Books

Sept. 20, 2016

The Effingham Public Library in Effingham, IL, is thinking ‘inside’ the box. The library used a $2,500 grant to retrofit a snack vending machine to dispense free books to people in the community, according to Effingham Daily News.

The machine will house up to 200 books for children, teens and adults and will be wrapped in brown paper with a genre written on the front.

The vending machine will allow library services to expand to a larger group of people, the source reports.
