An article in the November issue of Consumer Reports recommends consumers limit the consumption of rice products due to inorganic and organic arsenic levels found in popular foods. The article states there are no federal limits for arsenic in most foods, but using an original EPA proposed limit of 5 parts per billion for drinking water (although 10 ppb is the current standard), eating a single serving of some rice would give an adult more inorganic arsenic than a liter of water. Consumer Reports also found the arsenic in rice-based baby formula. Full article.
