Quality Coffee Certification Program To Be Given At National Automatic Merchandising Association OneShow In Chicago, April 27 To 29

The National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) is again offering its new and expanded Quality Coffee Certification Program (QCCP) at the NAMA OneShowSM to be held in Chicago at McCormick Place North Wednesday through Friday, April 27 to 29.

Sponsored by Folgers with in-kind sponsors Newco Enterprises and Everpure LLC, the brewing fundamentals workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, and coffee fundamentals will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 27. Participants will hear industry veteran Mike Tompkins of Coffee Products Associates passionately and enthusiastically share his coffee expertise and knowledge.

During the brewing fundamentals segment participants will learn the basic theory and principles involved in preparing filtered coffee. They will taste how the slightest change in the brewing formula can alter the taste profile. New this year are results from an in-depth study of single-portion products and equipment, and after sharing the processes established for our industry attendees will participate in a hands-on evaluation of single-portion coffee systems.

In the coffee fundamentals portion of the workshop, participants will learn about the development of coffee flavor qualities from the country of origin. Guided tasting exercises will help them experience origin and blended coffees. New to this portion is an expanded water filtration workshop and the effect water has on the taste profile.

Advance registration for the QCCP is required. Each session is $250, but registrants can attend both brewing fundamentals and coffee fundamental for only $450. After completing both sessions attendees will be eligible to apply for the Certified Coffee Specialist (CCS) certification.
