MoonPie honors troops with ‘Patriotic Pies’ donation match this Fourth of July
To celebrate our armed forces, snack cake maker Chattanooga Bakery will match MoonPie donations to active-duty service members and ship “Patriotic Pies” to troops via the USO. For convenience service operators, the initiative could offer an opportunity to tie micro market sales to a strong cause.
From June 30 through July 4, Chattanooga will match all mini Moon Pie purchases made at moonpie.com/patrioticpies. Chattanooga will double all donations and ship red, white and blue — strawberry, vanilla and blueberry — snacks. The company hopes to distribute 1 million Patriotic Pies.
What they are saying
“We’re honored to celebrate our men and women in uniform with a taste of home,” said Tory Johnston, vice president of sales and marketing at Chattanooga Bakery. “We’ve been making MoonPies for five generations, and we’re so grateful to the troops who protect us and serve our country. This is our way of saying thank you.”
“We deeply appreciate Chattanooga Bakery’s support of the USO and the people who serve in America’s military,” said Lisa Marie Riggins, USO regional president. “The USO has provided ‘tastes of home’ to service members for over 80 years, and Chattanooga Bakery has made it easy for everyone to participate in this support.”
