Silicon Valley startup Pooki’s Mahi® announced today it reintroduced 100% Kona Peaberry coffee in recyclable capsules that are compatible with 1.0 and 2.0 brewing technologies to make single serve coffee; the transition offers existing customers to save from rising costs of materials to manufacture Kona coffee in environmentally friendly pods.
Pooki’s Mahi Founder/CEO Leslie Magsalay-Zeller explains, “I decided to transition Pooki’s Mahi® individually wrapped 100% Kona coffee pods into 100% recyclable capsules in 2017. Recyclable capsules and improved packaging helps Pooki’s Mahi meet two-day shipping to the Lower 48 states, Alaska and Hawaii. Pooki’s Mahi passes price increases for shipping, raw materials, and processing fees to customers. I have zero tolerance for suppliers engaged in egregious cyber-criminal activities or unable to consistently meet commitments.”

Business operations ceased to exist for suppliers used to produce raw materials and manufacture individually wrapped environmentally friendly pods as a result of failing to meet Pooki’s Mahi stringent supply chain metrics. Limited availability for 100% Kona coffee crop, elevated cost to fulfill and ship packages are driving price markups. Pooki’s Mahi passes operation overhead costs to customers.

Each Kona coffee pods are nitrogen flushed, formed with a high oxygen barrier, and compatible with 1.0 and 2.0 single serve coffee makers. Pooki’s Mahi expanded its Kona KaKao™ coffee pods in 2019 with single-origin, micro-lot coffee pods fit for the espresso coffee lovers.
