Silicon Valley technology company Pooki’s Mahi® announced today it is now shipping Leslie Magsalay-Zeller’s newly designed 100% Koffee KaKao™ coffee in bio-based pods to coffee subscribers; customers can now quickly brew coffee with chocolate, mocha, and cacao flavors in 1.0 and 2.0 single serve coffee makers.

Pooki’s Mahi Founder/CEO Leslie Magsalay-Zeller explains, “Pooki’s Mahi coffee subscription and wholesale coffee club customers requested luxury coffees that pairs well with chocolate and mocha in single serve coffee pods priced similarly to 100% Kona coffee pods. Customers did not want flavored specialty coffees. I reviewed more than five years of customer data and supply chain metrics from various coffee green suppliers. The initial RFP (Request For Proposal) tested Pooki’s Mahi supply chain capabilities. I reviewed more than 50 green coffee suppliers for their supply chain, technology platforms used, operations capabilities, and certifications.”

“Over one year was spent testing coffees from the final three suppliers. I selected coffees for Koffee KaKao product line in 2017. Pooki’s Mahi goal for Koffee KaKao is to introduce unblended, expensive best tasting single-origin coffees in recyclable coffee capsules. I selected 100% single-origin coffees that have strong cacao, chocolate or mocha taste and was readily available. Existing 100% Kona coffee drinkers can explore specialty coffee with mocha, cacao, and chocolate flavors. No blending or artificial ingredients used,” the Silicon Valley tech executive continued.

Koffee KaKao™ coffee pods are ideal for environmentally conscious customers looking for recyclable or earth-friendly pods. Pooki’s Mahi® Koffee KaKao™ coffee pods are suited for customers that love cacao, chocolate, mocha, and want a strong, bold coffee. Different single origin coffee beans selected for each 100% Koffee KaKao coffee pods to represent a unique region: MokaRio™, Koffee KaKao™ Natural Fancy, MokaBerry™, Koffee KaKao™ Peaberry, and KrakaMoka™. Pooki’s Mahi proprietary coffee bean roasting and coffee grinds bring out the unique mocha, cacao, and natural chocolate flavors. Pooki’s Mahi does not blend or add artificial flavors to Koffee KaKao coffee pods.

Each Koffee KaKao coffee capsules are nitrogen flushed, formed with a high oxygen barrier and compatible with 1.0 and 2.0 single serve coffee makers. Pooki’s Mahi provides the full list of single serve coffee makers on the support site.

Offering 100% single-origin specialty coffee capsules gives customers an option to try naturally flavored mocha coffees. Pooki’s Mahi Founder/CEO Leslie Magsalay-Zeller selected high-value coffee beans for the new Koffee KaKao mocha coffee pods. Pooki’s Mahi green coffee suppliers sourced 100% single-origin coffee beans directly from coffee farms in South America, Africa, and Central America through direct trade relationships.

Pooki's Mahi offers Koffee KaKao™ bio-based coffee pods as a 10-count or 24-count variety pack. Koffee KaKao coffee pods first shipped late 2018. Each Koffee kaKao coffee pod represents specialty coffee from a specific region or coffee bean. For example, Koffee KaKao™ MokaRio™ are made from 100% Arabica coffee beans sourced from South America. South American coffee beans are known for bold, robust, coffees with natural cacao flavors followed by light after taste. Koffee KaKao™ Peaberry is made from 100% Arabica coffee beans Peaberry grade.

Pooki’s Mahi initial launch will be used to reconfirm product discoverability, finalize customer journey profiles, and design Pooki’s Mahi Kafpresso™ coffee capsules. Customers can purchase 100% Koffee KaKao™ directly on Pooki’s Mahi as a coffee subscription, through the wholesale coffee club or as an approved VIP Reseller Distributor.

Certificate of insurance is required to resell Pooki’s Mahi Koffee KaKao mocha coffee pods. A limited number of units was allocated by the Silicon Valley food and beverage firm to select retailers. The retailers selected to resell Koffee KaKao include but limited to a national grocery chain, food service companies and a small number of international marketplace platforms. Leslie Magsalay-Zeller chose resellers based on how great firms sold Pooki’s Mahi 100% Kona coffee pods, sales performance, time to resolve issues surfaced by Pooki’s Mahi Founder/CEO and ease of doing business.

Current feedback from repeat customers will be incorporated into Pooki’s Mahi Koffee KaKao™ Kafpresso™ coffee capsules. Offering recyclable coffee capsules contains the rising costs to manufacture specialty coffee in an environmentally pod or capsule. Nutrition information, California Prop 65 and coffee capsule information designed onto each ship ready packaging.

The cost to manufacture Pooki’s Mahi® Koffee KaKao™ in bio-based pods significantly increased. Firms used to produce individually wrapped meshed coffee pods failed to meet Pooki’s Mahi stringent supply chain metrics, and lost inventory. Business operations for the companies used in 2018 ceased to exist. Suppliers providing raw materials are unable to produce high-quality mesh pods consistently. Limited availability for quality materials and increased cost to fulfill, ship products and operational overhead costs are driving price increases. Prices increases are passed to the customer. The Silicon Valley food and beverage brand increased pricing for most of its products.

Founder/CEO Leslie Magsalay-Zeller kicked off Pooki’s Mahi MeowHattan Project in 2012, a multi-year effort to build an efficient supply chain driven by a robust technology platform. Registered FDA facilities will be used to manufacture coffee pods and tea capsules. Koffee KaKao™ coffee will be the third set of Kafpresso™ coffee capsules produced in the new FDA certified facility. Pooki’s Mahi plans on expanding Koffee KaKao™ Kafpresso™ product line.
