Let them eat Cakester! Novel Oreo confection will return after 10-year recess

Oct. 4, 2021

Nabisco’s Cakesters fans rejoice. The snack cakes are back after a 10-year hiatus, according to news reports.

Per Thrillist, Mondelez is returning Cakesters nationwide in two varieties -- the original Oreo Cakesters and new Nutter Butter Cakesters -- beginning in 2022.

The snack cakes will be just like the original, featuring two soft-baked cookies sandwiched around a cream center. Both offerings will reportedly be permanent additions to Nabisco's lineup.

Consumers can also win a chance to sample them before the 2022 release by following Oreo's social media channels.

Single-serve Cakesters were sold in vending machines in their heyday, but there’s no word yet if there will be a reprise of the packs for convenience channels.
