Mondelez Global LLC announced a voluntary recall in the U.S. of the Green & Black's Organic Peanut & Sea Salt Milk Chocolate Bar. This product contains peanuts supplied by Sunland, Inc., which expanded its nationwide recall on Oct. 12, 2012. The peanuts have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
This recall is limited exclusively to the Green & Black's Organic Peanut and Sea Salt Milk Chocolate Bar (UPC 708656100562, 3.5 oz. bar, all "best by" dates) manufactured and sold only in the U.S., available at retail and specialty stores nationwide. No other Green & Black's product is included in this recall.
