More Proof That Micro Market Design Pays Dividends

As the leading supplier of micro market retail displays, seating and design features, Fixturelite has participated in and completed so many amazing spaces over the years; over 1,000 and counting. Accordingly, it is hard to decide which location to focus on for the Micro Market Design newsletter.

For reasons other than the usual “extras” one might see in a refreshment environment, we selected this one, which began as a blank slate. The finished product was the result of our desire to create a space that was perfectly suited to the needs of the location.

What is pictured is not a dining space that shares its walls with a micro market. Instead, what is shown here is the micro market area, with a dining space adjacent to it - in another room. Our goal was to create a space where people could mix and mingle, have coffee over a meeting, or get away from the noisy cafeteria seating environment just one room away.

We were tasked with creating a space that was also complimentary to the building theme and the customer’s mission, vision and values – a requirement that is becoming the norm. This means that the equipment and dining furniture provided by Fixturelite needed to look like it was designed with purpose. The colors of the laminates, the stainless steel coolers and freezers, the table tops, bases and stools had to match the customer’s color scheme and design theme. Greenery and plants were proposed to make the area even more inviting and comfortable.

The traffic pattern in the room was given serious consideration and the fixtures and furniture were built around accommodating a continuous flow of people – creating an open, uncrowded space. From any entrance into the space, the user’s eyes are directed to attractive refreshment choices and an easily accessible kiosk location.

This was the first location of its size and scope to be remodeled at a business with multiple locations in 2017. The end result and re-grand opening that received an overwhelmingly positive response. So much so, that it lead to a continuation of new micro market implementations and remodels for our operator client, who now enjoys a particularly strong relationship with their customer.
