EVA Publishes The Latest European Vending Market Report

Oct. 13, 2015

Brussels, 13 October 2015—The newly published report provides the latest in-depth look into the European vending and Office Coffee Service (OCS) industry and reveals the current trends observed across Europe.

While the report acknowledges that the number of vending machines in the traditional western European markets has slightly decreased in 2014, a growth in newer markets such as Russia and Poland has managed to keep the overall European fieldbase broadly stable. Furthermore, as the vending industry is inextricably linked to the overall performance of the general economy, it is confirmed that the countries with the biggest decreases in vending are on the whole the places where the wider economies are stagnating.

This is the 3rd edition of the market report on the industry provided by the EVA, and consists of a European summary with an overview of 21 countries, as well as 9 detailed individual country market reports. A number of statistics in the report also provides a 5 year evolution of the industry, in order to help provide and identify certain trends, which can aid business decisions for future planning.

Specifically, the report includes data on the vending turnover of various countries, fieldbase and market value by type of machine, and sales volumes (vends) for each machine category.  The statistics below provide a brief insight into those revealed in the studies:

  • While the overall machine fieldbase in Europe has decreased slightly to 3.74 million machines, the total turnover has increased to €11.8 billion.
  • The “Big 6” countries (Italy, France, Germany, UK, Spain and the Netherlands) account for 77% of the total machine fieldbase.
  • 60% of European vending machines are hot drinks machines.
  • Every day there are 78 million vends (items dispensed from machines) in Europe

The EVA Members have free and full access to both the European Summary and the individual country profiles, and can download them from the EVA Members only webpage.
