The European Vending Association has published its latest Vending & OCS Market Report, which examines data through the end of 2024.

Key findings

  • The total number of vending and OCS machines in Europe remains at approximately 5 million units.
  • The total number of individual vends (or product transactions) is around 5 billion.
  • Total industry revenue in Europe is reported at €26.4 billion (approximately US $30.75 billion).
  • While revenue continues to grow, the number of machines placed in workplaces, and number of vends, show little growth compared with the previous year.

The proportion of machines placed in workplace settings like offices has dropped to around 70%, down from pre-pandemic levels of 80%. The EVA says this signals a structural shift as operators diversify their site types in response to employees’ hybrid and remote work schedules.

Among the “Big 6” European markets, the Italian market is declining, as the number of machines installed, consumption and overall revenue dropping. Italy is the only one among 24 covered markets to report a drop in product revenue (-2.9%), says the EVA. At the same time, Italy remains the largest market, with more than 800,000 machines.

France has surpassed Germany in total product revenue, recording €3.69 billion (approximately US $4.3 billion). In terms of consumption, the Netherlands — predominantly an OCS market — sits at the top with 5.66 billion vending transactions.

Although the reflects the state of the European vending industry though the end of 2024, EVA expressed concern about “economic headwinds” seen since early 2025 that may herald a growing stagnation in the vending and OCS industry in the coming years.
