(CHICAGO) March 20, 2015 –Alabama legislators once again turned out to participate in this year’s Alabama Vending Association’s (AVA) Annual Dinner and Legislative Day earlier this week.

AVA Lobbyist Curt Lee coordinated the effort which included a reception and dinner with more than 10 state legislators on the evening of Tuesday, March 17, followed by a legislative day on Wednesday, March 18 at the Alabama State Capitol. At the Capitol, the group was personally greeted by Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill, Senate Majority Leader Greg Reed, and House Commerce & Small Business Committee Chairman Jack Williams for a presentation and question and answer session. Afterward, the AVA members visited more than 150 legislators’ offices and delivered product samples provided by members and suppliers.

“This legislative event has become the standard for AVA by serving the dual-purpose of showcasing our industry and providing a key opportunity to educate our elected officials on our efforts,” said AVA President, Terry Day. “Its success is a testament to the vision of the AVA Board and members to ensure that our industry remains on the radar of our key decision-makers,” he continued.

“AVA is committed to its plan to influence policies benefiting business in Alabama, which is why this annual event is an important part of AVA’s legislative activities,” said Sheree Edwards, NAMA Legislative Director. “Going forward, all of our efforts will involve identifying opportunities to build relationships and promote our message with elected officials,” she continued.

Curt Lee, AVA Lobbyist, echoed Edwards’ sentiment. “We are uniquely positioned to capture the attention of our legislators in Montgomery because of the multifaceted nature of the vending and refreshment services industry,” Lee said. “Businesses that support us provide valuable revenue and human capital to our state’s economy that legislators are committed to protecting. With the sustained vision of AVA’s leadership and dedication of its members, I am confident that we will keep pushing toward that goal,” Lee concluded.
