Maryland Operator Speaks Out Against New FDA Regulations

The new FDA calorie labeling regulations did not come as good news to all vending operators, reports the Washington Business Journal. Bruce Lawson, owner of Captiol Area Vending located in Silver Spring, MD, told the source that he considered adding touchscreens to his machines to show calorie count, but that the move would be too expensive. In each machine Lawson offers one-third of “healthier” vending items, but notices that they don’t sell as well as the other items. The source reports that Lawson will update calorie counts on signs in his locations, but that it could become a “nuisance.” Full article
