Navajo Nation Imposes Additional 2 Percent Sales Tax On "Junk Food"

The Navajo Nation Council voted 12 to 7 to impose an additional 2 percent sales tax — to its already 5 percent sales tax — on sweetened beverages and snacks it defines as low in essential nutrients while being high in salt, fat and sugar, according to the Navajo-Hopi Observer.
