Spring Expo Will Examine Succeeding in Tough Times

This year’s Spring Expo will be held Thursday and Friday, April 16 and 17

There’s no question that these are tough economic times. But as savvy executives know, you can still be successful even when times are tough. You just need to be prepared to do more with less, and NAMA has created a Spring Expo dedicated to helping you do just that.

This year’s Spring Expo will be held Thursday and Friday, April 16 and 17, with educational sessions offered Tuesday through Friday, April 14 to 17 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Convention Center in Las Vegas. This year, we’ve created a host of pricing reductions and savings programs designed to make it financially possible for everyone to attend.


If you pre-register by April 15, you can take advantage of the member registration special: four company employees for $100 for a savings of $40, or five employees for $100 for a savings of $75. In addition, employees attending the expo can use their expo badges to access many free educational programs.

The show kicks off with Mark Adams who will deliver pointers to help you motivate your staff and attain the goals you want for your company at the keynote address, “Turning it Around During Challenging Times,” at the general session from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Adams is a dynamic speaker, author, business educator and ESPN college basketball analyst, and he knows how to motivate people.

Another important session is the “Sales Simplified” training program, a customized curriculum taught by NAMA Knowledge Source Partner Rick Leffke of R.C. Leffke and Associates. The program, held Tuesday and Wednesday, plays out very much like an athletic team practice session, where sales people and sales coaches learn, practice and master the effective best practices of the industry’s top performers.

Leffke promises that the course will help you get ready to increase revenues and profitability. The discounted price of $595 per person for “Sales Simplified” is half of the usual fee of $1,195 per person. As an added bonus, the fee includes a special guidebook that highlights specific best practices.


Other show highlights include:

  • Quality Coffee Certification Program, Wednesday — Learn the four fundamentals of brewing a quality cup of coffee at this very popular program, which begins with the history of coffee and continues from the bean to the cup. Coffee service is one of the fastest growing and most profitable sectors of our industry, and this session will help attendees learn the skills they need to tap into the potential profits associated with gourmet coffee service.
  • Supervisor Development Program — This 3-day program beginning Wednesday, sponsored by PepsiCo Foodservice, is for new and experienced supervisors and managers.
  • New Exhibitor Pavilion — Attendees can see everything new in one location — products, services, equipment, etc.
  • Category management and profit enhancing opportunities in vending seminar, Wednesday — Brad Bachtelle of Bachtelle and Associates presents two seminars. (There is a fee required.)
  • Anatomy of cashless vending seminar, Wednesday — Michael Kasavana, Ph.D., NCE, NAMA Endowed Professor, The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University, directs demonstrations and a panel discussion.
  • Fit Pick: What is it and how can it work for you seminar, Friday — Jackie Clark, NAMA public relations director, will walk you through each step of the process of introducing a health and wellness program.


The Mandalay Bay Convention Center houses three hotels — Mandalay Bay Resort, the hotel and the Luxor, offering pools, beaches, restaurants, a luxurious spa, outstanding night life and an exciting collection of shops and boutiques.
