Former Council Bluffs, IA, mayoral candidate Matthew Hartfield has been charged with stealing vending machines in Nebraska, according to CBS2Iowa. Hartfield pleaded not guilty to a dozen misdemeanor counts of theft.
Authorities report that the thefts started occurring in November when “a well-dressed man would enter an Omaha store, measure a machine and take it,” with promises to bring back a larger one.
The owner of the vending machines has an estimated loss of $10,000.
