Arizona Vending Machine Product Brings DEA Notice

Dec. 22, 2016

There’s a vending machine located in a sub shop in Tuscon, AZ, that’s getting a lot of attention.  The vending machine dispenses 100, 40 and 10 gram packages of kratom, a substance that is highly valued for its ability to relieve pain, depression and anxiety, according to Arizona Sonora News.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) had intended to enforce a ban on the sale and distribution of kratom, meaning the end of the unique vending machine; however, after opposition from defenders of the substance, the DEA agreed to postpone a final decision until further review.

The vending machine takes credit card or cash and comes with signage letting users know of the substance and how to use it.
