Florida Senate Bill S78 that would have added a 6 percent sales tax to bottled water recently died in the Florida state senate, according to Mary Lou Monaghan, senior manager of government affairs at the National Automatic Merchandising Association. "Again a united effort has defeated a bottled water tax in Florida," Monaghan wrote in an email sent to members of the Automatic Merchandising Association of Florida. "As a result of the response to the 'Florida – Stop the New Water Tax Action Alert,' 272 emails were generated to members of the Florida state senate and state house through www.namavoice.org. AMAF has become a united association and a strong driving force in Florida. A big congratulations and thank you to everyone who got involved."
