Crane Convenience adds smart coffee machines for unattended retail
Crane Convenience has launched coffee systems in the United Kingdom and Europe, adding connected retail capabilities, updated user interfaces and equipment designed to simplify service and maintenance.
The portfolio includes five models: CALI 2, COTI 2 Lite, COTI 2 Vend and Retail options, and COTI 2 Tower. Crane Convenience, a division of Crane Payment Innovations and part of Crane NXT Co., said it designed the product line to serve specific environments.
- CALI 2 is intended for high volume locations. Built to provide reliability and ease of service, the machine’s components and maintenance requirements are designed to reduce downtime.
- COTI 2 Lite is characterized as a “streamlined, premium solution” that combines a large touchscreen with simplified operating and maintenance functions.
- COTI 2 Vend and COTI 2 Retail are intended for connected locations. They add native connectivity and tools that allow operators to remotely manage pricing, promotions and digital content. The systems are designed to support consumer engagement while giving operators remote access and control.
- COTI 2 Tower is intended for high traffic retail and semi-public locations. The coffee service system provides integrated e-commerce tools, loyalty features and media capabilities while its enclosure provides space for cups, stirrers and sugar.
Crane Convenience said the equipment also incorporates design changes intended to speed refilling, cleaning and servicing.
“We built this portfolio on what we are known for: reliability, ease of use, and ease of service,” said Ariadni Skiliri, product manager at Crane Convenience. “From there, we pushed further to create solutions that go beyond functionality.”
Crane Convenience also partnered with Boost Inc. to integrate the VendLive platform with select COTI 2 models, including COTI 2 Vend, Retail and Tower. VendLive gives operators centralized access to promotions, loyalty programs, dynamic pricing and media capabilities across multiple locations.
“The COTI 2 pairs Crane’s engineering with our VendLive platform, so any café, forecourt or workplace, not just the premium brands, can offer the same dynamic pricing, live promotions and real-time visibility that used to be out of reach." said Pascal Uffer, CEO and co-founder of Boost Inc. "That’s not an add-on. That’s how we think unattended coffee should work.”
The portfolio also introduces a retrofit door architecture for existing COTI and CALI machines. Operators can install the new door to add an updated interface, refreshed design and native connectivity without replacing the complete machine. That retrofit approach could allow operators to extend equipment life while reducing the capital required to modernize existing fleets.
Matt Volinsky, vice president and general manager at Crane Convenience, said in a statement that changing customer expectations are increasing demand for digital and consumer-focused coffee systems.
The new portfolio is currently available for the United Kingdom and European markets.
