Feb. 13, 2019

According to a recent announcement by Atomo, coffee created without coffee beans is not only possible, but where the industry is headed due to the threats of climate change, population and disease. Atomo cites a January 2019 Science Magazine study reporting more than half of coffee species were in danger of extinction by 2069.

The beanless coffee, which Atomo calls molecular coffee, is a "naturally-derived" and "sustainable" coffee, it claims in its release. The coffee has caffeine, a mouth feel similar to bean-brewed coffee, but does not taste acidic or bitter.

Atomo has launched a kickstarter campaign to fund the further expansion of its molecular coffee.
