A new report from Australia’s Climate Institute says coffee production across the globe is in danger because of climate change, according to NPR. In Brazil in particular, some farmers are diversifying crops or leaving coffee farming behind for good due to severe drought conditions. Some parts of the country, including parts of Brazil’s coffee belt, have seen drought for three years which has caused farmers to lose much of their crops.
The country’s coffee exports fell to 2.6 million bags in June, which is a 12 percent drop from a year ago, according to Cecafe.
