Coca-Cola announced it was investing in coffee. The company’s iced tea brand Gold Peak will be entering the ready-to-drink coffee business, launching bottled coffees and tea lattes in the first quarter of 2017, reports Business Insider.
This move may be key to the company’s future, the source notes, as total volume of soda consumed in the U.S. dropped 1.2 percent in 2015, compared to a drop of .9 percent in 2014.
Likewise, Coca-Cola’s rival PepsiCo is moving to focus on healthy snacking and carbonated beverages.
Coca-Cola currently sells bottled Illy brand coffee in the U.S.
