Report: World Coffee Production Will Increase To 155.7 Million Bags

June 20, 2016

The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is forecasting a rise in the world coffee production for 2016/17. Coffee will increase 2.4 million bags from the previous year to 155.7 million bags. A record Arabica output in Brazil more than offsets lower Robusta production in Brazil, Vietnam and Indonesia. Arabica will rebound to 60 percent of the total production, after experiencing declining production levels over the last several years. Robusta is expected to decline.

Global consumption is forecasted at 150.8 million bags, drawing ending inventories to a 4-year low.
