Many things threaten coffee such as climate change and fungal pathogens. This huge industry isn’t taking the threats lightly. Researchers in Guatemala are studying a three-prong plan to improve shade grown organic coffee, according to a recent article in Comunicaffe. Shade grown coffee is one of the most important measures to sustain coffee under climate change. The article discusses the aspects of soil erosion, terraces, residue management and migration in terms of ensuring an abundant coffee supply in the years ahead.
