Imperial Coffee and Services Inc. based in Toronto and Southern Ontario, Canada, recently announced that it has won the Green Award from The Law Office Management Association (TLOMA) for being their most environmentally responsible coffee services business partner.
“This is our fourth win in the last five years from TLOMA (The Law Office Management Association) and just the latest evidence of how seriously we take our commitment to the environment,” said Mark Steiner, president of Imperial Coffee and Services Inc., in a prepared statement.
According to the release, Imperial Coffee and Services Inc. has long been the industry leader on the environment. Earlier this year, the company added to its product line Café Femenino, a fair trade and organic coffee produced by a women’s cooperative in Guatemala that empowers women and builds communities.
Imperial Coffee and Services has also joined a worldwide movement to “outsmart waste” through the TerraCycle program, which converts waste material into a wide variety of products and materials. Imperial Coffee’s Ottawa office is 100 percent bullfrog-powered. This means Bullfrog Power’s generators inject clean, renewable electricity onto its regional grid to match the amount of power Imperial Coffee and Services Inc. uses.
Imperial Coffee’s “go green” mandate provides customers with aggressive options in the areas of responsibility, sustainability and minimization of waste, reports the company. Among many initiatives are: bio-degradable packaging, re-cycling brewers and filter packs and using Greenware cold drink cups.
