Specialty Coffee Association of America Signs Letter Of Understanding With International Women's Coffee Alliance

Sept. 12, 2012

The International Women's Coffee Alliance (IWCA) is pleased to announce that the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) is now a strategic partner. A Letter of Understanding (LOU) was signed between the SCAA and the IWCA during the SCAA Leadership summit and IWCA joint meeting in Boston, Mass. Sept. 6 to 8. Saturday morning, after a presentation by IWCA President Grace Mena discussing past progress and future goals of the organization, SCAA President Max Quirin signed the LOU in front of over 100 SCAA staff members, volunteers, and board of directors. By signing the LOU, the SCAA has showed its full support of the IWCA mission to help women across the coffee supply chain.

With the help of the SCAA and its members, the IWCA will now have another outlet to help reach its goals, spread the message and continue to help women in the coffee trade. The two organizations will now work closely together and aim to make a difference in the lives of women in coffee through education, networking, and grant funded programs, creating a better standard of living for them and their families.
