Single Cup Coffee Surges At Retail

Single-cup coffee generated $239.5 million in dollar sales in food stores for the 52 weeks ending July 10, a whopping 136 percent jump from the previous 52 weeks, largely a result of new product introductions, according to Supermarket News.

Editor’s Insight: The popularity of single-cup coffee at retail supports the coffee service business. More consumers are now exposed to single-cup at retail than in the work place.

The Automatic Merchandiser State of the Coffee Service Industry Report in September notes that homeowner single-cup machines continue to expand at a rapid rate and have rejuvenated the long-dormant coffeemaker business.
