Nebraska Governor Declares Opposition To Candy, Bottled Water, Soda Taxes

Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts announced at a news conference Wednesday, April 3, that he opposed a legislative proposal to repeal state sales tax exemptions for soda, candy and bottled water, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.

He said the tax exemptions, which are being considered by the state legislature's Revenue Committee as part of a tax reform plan for local property tax relief, would be a burden.

Nebraska has been experiencing historic flooding.
