Hawaii Legislators Halt Plastic Bottle Ban Proposal, Opt For Further Study

Two committees of Hawaii's House of Representatives decided against banning the sale and use of plastic drink bottles, utensils, stirring sticks, bags and straws, according to AP News, as published by Hawaii News Now. The committees did, however, vote to establish a group that would study how best to eliminate single-use plastic packaging, which was part of the bill the plastic bans were proposed in, Senate Bill 522.
