Research on more than 1,600 individuals shows a correlation between drinking hot tea and a reduced risk of developing glaucoma, according to a study published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology.  The study looked at several drink types, including coffee, hot tea, iced tea and soft drinks. Only hot tea showed a significant correlation, with those who consumed at least one cup of hot tea daily having a 74 percent decrease in odds of having glaucoma compared with those who did not consume hot tea. No correlation was found for decaffeinated hot tea and glaucoma, however.
