Soda Tax PACs Invest Millions In Final Vote In Santa Fe

The Associated Press reports that spending by soda tax rival political action committees (PACs) topped $3 million during the campaign leading up to today's vote in Santa Fe, NM. The American Beverage Association spent more than $1.3 million into efforts to defeat the tax, while in support of the tax, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg provided the PAC Pre-K for Santa Fe with $1.1 million worth of contributions.
