Small Businesses Object To Seattle's Proposed Soda Tax

April 6, 2017

The Seattle Times reports that more than 150 small business owners are calling on Seattle Mayor Ed Murray to reconsider his plan for a soda tax, which would call for distributors to pay 2 cents per ounce. This week, the business owners sent a letter to the mayor and held a news conference Tuesday to object to the plan, saying that the tax would be an unfair burden on their operations and customers and the tax would be passed along to customers which would ultimately hurt sales.
