Not all of Philadelphia airport is affected by a soda tax approved by the city council earlier this year, according to Aviation Pros. Terminal A West and A East are technically located in Tinicum Township, Delaware County, while Terminals B, C, D, E and F are located in the City of Philadelphia, which will enforce a new 1.5 cents per ounce sweetened-beverage tax beginning Jan. 1.
According to the source, merchants in Tinicum will be exempt from the tax, while those in Philadelphia will likely incur higher beverage costs.
Though the city says the tax will be at the distributor level, some critics believe the costs will be passed by small businesses to customers.
