This November, voters in Oakland, CA, will have a chance to decide whether or not their soda will have a new tax, according to ABC 7.
Oakland’s Measure HH is a proposed 1 cent per ounce tax on sugary beverages.
The American Beverage Association has reportedly already spent $600,000 to fight the measure in the city, producing ads in Spanish and Chinese.
Nearby, the Berkeley, CA, soda tax went into effect last year and has already raised $1.5 million, ABC 7 reports.
