Louisiana Parish Requires Healthier Vending Options

In a four to one vote, the Ouachita Parish Police Jury in Monroe, La. passed a new ordinance supporting the "Ouachita Well" health initiative, which creates healthier options and guidelines for vending machines and concession stands run by the parish, according to KNOE 8 news. The change was made in reaction to a recent study that named Louisiana as the no. one state for obesity. The new ordinance will require a quarter or more of the products sold to meet strict nutritional guidelines over the next two years. Full article.
