Mike Lawlor, vice president of sales and business development at USA Technologies Inc., defends the economics of cashless vending. Lawlor defends cashless vending in response to a podcast aired Jan. 7, 2010, in which a vending operator claimed the economics of cashless vending don’t justify the investment.
Lawlor claims tests have shown that a cashless reader will justify its investment if it delivers 10 to 15 percent sales lift. He gives figures for hardware investment, processing fees and fixed fees. The results he cites reflect machines in a variety of different locations.
