MobileDemand Launches Scan Handle Transforming Tablet To Scanner

Feb. 8, 2017

MobileDemand, a leading rugged Windows® tablet provider, has designed an innovative Scan Handle attachment for the new xTablet T8650 rugged tablet. The optional accessory snaps directly to the back of the device to enable fast and ergonomic barcode scanning utilizing the rugged tablet’s built-in high-performance 2D barcode scanner.

Attaching to the included Snap Mount plate and connecting to the xTablet T8650 via Bluetooth, the Scan Handle features a built-in trigger which when pulled, activates the barcode scanner located on the top of the tablet. This accessory is best suited for individuals capturing vast amounts of 1D or 2D barcodes throughout their workday, increasing productivity in industries such as retail, warehousing, and distribution.

The Scan Handle is powered by a 2,000 mAh swappable battery, providing up to 90 hours of continuous use on a single charge.

The xTablet T8650 runs enterprise-ready Windows® 10 Professional, an operating system that gets more work done in less time, paired with an Intel® Atom x5-Z8550 processor with 4GB of memory and 64GB of storage. Other unique features of the rugged tablet include a 3D camera, fingerprint reader, 4G LTE, GPS, dual-color cameras, hot-swappable batteries, vehicle mounting and much more.

The Intel® RealSense 3D rear facing camera, integrated seamlessly into the tablet, captures 3D scenery and objects, overlaying virtual information into a live image feed. Users can capture depth-based images for applications such as volume dimensioning, measurements and scene capture. The camera has multiple image sensors allowing depth sensing to see the world in 3D.

The tablet itself meets MIL-STD-810G standards with 5-foot drop survival and is IP65 sealed to withstand dust, rain, and snow, allowing users to get the job done while protecting their financial investment

“Continuous innovation is what MobileDemand is all about. The unique, industry-first, Scan Handle allows for single-handed use of a fully rugged Windows tablet to efficiently complete ample amounts of barcode scanning,” said Matt Miller, MobileDemand President. “Our broad product lineup, including the new Scan Handle, is built on the foundation that productivity and efficiency is key to long-term success and growth.”

The Scan Handle accessory will be available late February 2017.
