July 14, 2016

SOMERSET, NJ--(Marketwired - Jul 13, 2016) -  Star Micronics, a leading POS and customer engagement technology manufacturer, with more than 30 years providing proof of purchase expertise, announced an integration with Apriva, a leading player in secure mobile communications and wireless payment processing, to incorporate support for Star MicronicsTSP650II BTi desktop printer, and the SM-S220iand SM-S230i portable printers into Apriva's white-labeled mobile payments application, AprivaPay Plus™.

Apriva's AprivaPay Plus solution turns Apple, Android™ and Amazon Fire devices into mobile points of sale (mPOS), enabling small- to mid-sized businesses (SMB) to meet the growing demand for mobile purchases. This streamlined application can be used in any number of venues -- storefront or mobile, making it the perfect solution for mPOS with Star peripherals. The solution delivers EMV chip card, debit and credit acceptance, and magstripe card acceptance, as well as cloud based inventory, multi-user capability, language localization (English, French, Spanish), two-factor authentication and device tracking for added security. AprivaPay Plus also provides robust reporting features to merchants via an online web companion portal, the latest device and operating system compatibility, and compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations.

Star Micronics' SM-S220i and SM-S230i portable Bluetooth receipt printers are the ideal mobile printing solution for the hospitality and retail industries. The portable printers are equipped with a sleek, compact and lightweight design and are compatible with all operating systems including iOS (iPad®, iPhone®, iPod®) and all Bluetooth devices. The portable printers can be easily fastened on a belt for mobile point of sale and payment processing applications like tableside ordering and line busting. In addition to easy drop in and print paper loading, Star's portable printers are both equipped with extended battery life for long working environments. Star's desktop thermal and portable printers allow merchants to print "EMV card declined" slips when a fraudulent credit card transaction is attempted in addition to traditional receipts.

"Easy, seamless mobile payments are increasingly essential for SMB merchants, and increased capabilities such as receipts, are crucial for this market," said Benjamin Hurley, Senior Director of Mobile Product Management at Apriva. "AprivaPay Plus can turn any mobile device into a fully integrated mobile point of sale system, providing a low-cost solution ideal for smaller merchants. By integrating with Star's Bluetooth printers, we have made upgrading to an EMV-compliant mPOS easy for small business owners."
