Vending Machine In London Offers Art In Unique Installation

Oct. 4, 2019

CNN reports that a vending machine in London sells randomly-selected art to customers for £500 (approximately $640). The vending machine, offering 125 works by British artist Ryan Gander, will be displayed until October 6, 2019 as part of an installation called "Time Well Spent" at the Taro Nasu gallery during the annual Frieze arts fair in Regent's Park. Curious art enthusiasts can view or purchase a variety of items including cast sculptures of digital watches and rolls of cash or stones collected by the artist and his children, expressions of Gander's thoughts on the economics of time. It's worth noting that one of the stones in the vending machine includes a diamond.

The vending machine accepts card payments.
