Smucker to roll out fridge-ready Uncrustables in summer 2026
Uncrustables is moving beyond the freezer: When launched in summer 2026, the fridge-friendly sandwiches will be ready-to-eat for five days. The change eliminates thaw time, giving consumers a true grab-and-go option from the cooler with no wait.
The company said the sandwiches will continue to use the brand’s “Unbeatably Soft Bread,” baked daily in U.S. bakeries, made without artificial preservatives and frozen on site. Smucker said the taste and texture will not change when eaten from the fridge.
Two morning flavors introduced in late 2025 — Up & Apple (Peanut Butter & Apple Cinnamon Jelly) and Bright-Eyed Berry (Peanut Butter & Strawberry Jam) — already support fridge storage for up to five days. Smucker said each sandwich contains 12 g of protein.
Why this matters
- Fridge-friendly positioning targets a core friction point for frozen items in convenience foods: the need to plan ahead for thaw time.
- The five-day refrigerated window supports more frequent, impulse-style eating occasions that mirror grab-and-go behavior.
- Operators may be able to promote Uncrustables as “ready-to-eat from the fridge” where refrigerated storage is available without changing the product’s point of purchase.
- The summer timing gives operators a planning window to align cold storage capacity, rotation routines and day-part messaging for snacks and mornings.
