Sodexo wins global Meta workplace food services contract

Meta’s global food services contract includes offices, campuses, data centers, conference hubs and smaller workplaces.

Meta has awarded Sodexo a global food services contract covering more than 130 locations. The agreement includes goods and services to support employee experience, workplace productivity and interpersonal connection across Meta’s global operations, including corporate offices, large campuses, data centers, conference hubs and smaller offices in more than 30 countries.

Sodexo said service delivery will begin progressively in the coming months. The company described the agreement as one of the largest single global workplace food services contracts it has secured. Meta awarded the business following a competitive global tender process. Sustainability was part of Meta’s selection process and will be incorporated into the program, according to Sodexo.

Sodexo will apply a global service model that pairs consistent standards with local execution. The company also plans to incorporate digital technology, data capabilities and market-specific initiatives.

Why this matters to convenience services operators

  • The scale reflects Meta’s desire to meet more than snack and beverage needs. It reflects a view that food service is part of the broader workplace experience rather than a stand-alone amenity.
  • Global clients are seeking consistent service standards as well as local market customizations.
  • Digital technology, operational data and sustainability are becoming central components of large workplace dining proposals.
  • Large clients like Meta are likely to expect suppliers to coordinate service delivery across offices, campuses and other workplace formats.
  • While large global agreements can create meaningful growth opportunities for operators like Sodexo, they require extensive coordination and implementation resources.
  • Standardized programs can improve consistency, but operators must preserve enough flexibility to meet local needs. At the same time, they must offer enough customization to meet client goals and expectations.
