Five Star acquires AM Coffee Services in Louisiana

Five Star Breaktime Solutions has acquired AM Coffee Services, a refreshment services operator based in the Shreveport, La. market, the company said. The deal adds nearly 90 coffee and refreshment service locations that will be integrated into Five Star’s existing Shreveport operation to maintain customer support and service continuity.

AM Coffee Services traces its roots to 1981, when founder Mary Moore launched the business after losing her job with another coffee company. Her son, Price Moore, an Air Force veteran, took over the operation after her retirement about two decades ago and has continued to run the business, according to Five Star.

“Five Star looks forward to building upon the strong foundation established by the Moore family and continuing to provide exceptional refreshment solutions to the Shreveport community,” Pat Barger, Five Star Breaktime Solutions’ director of mergers and acquisitions, said in the announcement.

The AM Coffee Services transaction adds to a string of Five Star deals over the past few months, including Savannah Healthy Vending in coastal Georgia, Jordan Distributing in the Chattanooga, Tenn., area and Krodel Vending in southern Indiana.

Across convenience services, consolidation has remained a notable theme as operators and suppliers pursue scale, route density and technology investments to compete in unattended retail.
